I started to draw at an early age, and didnt stop. Mainly i was inspired by watching Doctor Who, and the original Star Wars films. If i wasnt drawing daleks and Tardis's i was probably drawing the Millenium Falcon or R2-D2. I drew pretty much constantly, at home and at school. Doctor Who had such an effect on me that i even had an old fashioned school desk in my room which i carved the Tardis controls into with a compass, drawing buttons and levers all over it in felt tip. Before i left school I was earning money from illustration, designing a couple of logos for local companies and painting on the backs of other pupils' leather jackets.

I completed a 4 year Fine art degree at Glasgow School of art, focusing mainly on life drawing and painting. My degree show attracted the attention of several art dealers, but I chose instead to move into the world of freelance illustration.
I then joined the games industry, taking a position at Digital Bridges, a company producing mobile phone games. As production illustrator, I produced pixel based art for the games themselves along with various promotional illustrations.

After Digital Bridges, I travelled to Cheltenham to join Acclaim, where I moved into a dedicated concept design position. I then spent two years at Rare, Microsoft's highly regarded warwickshire based games company, as concept artist. it was a great experience as i was right in the creative centre working with the game designers, coming up with new ideas all the time, developing them, then seeing them being implemented into the game we were making. During this time I also provided illustrations for the BBC's web presence, illustrating e-books for Doctor Who and Sherlock Holmes.

In 2005 I was invited to join the BBC's Doctor Who art department, working closeley with Production Designer Edward Thomas.  i worked solidly on Doctor Who and Torchwood for the next 5 years in what was a very close knit art dept. To end up working on something that so inspired and excited me as a kid, designing everything from spaceships to laser screwdrivers to the planet Gallifrey, and eventually the Daleks, was literally a dream job. I also got to be a Cyberman briefly, as an extra was off sick ...mad, unforgettable stuff.
I also did a few bits of illustration work for others after hours, which included helping to illustrate the 'Wizarding World of Harry Potter' Theme Park. This led to designing props for the Half Blood Prince film under Production Designer Stuart Craig, followed by a job providing concepts for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows parts 1 and 2.
Other recent Film work includes Sherlock Holmes 2, Jack the Giant Killer and most recently Snow White and the Huntsman. In between these jobs I take various freelance illustration jobs, most recently book illustration, producing visuals for various television ad campaigns and providing cross section illustrations for print.
